'Spanglish' family's mixed emotions after Euros20 hours agoBy Alex McIntyre,özet galatasaray BBC News, West MidlandsShareFamilyGemma, Eduardo and nine-year-old Edward all watched the final togetherThere were mixed emotions in one ‘Spanglish’ household as Spain beat England in the final of Euro 2024.Wolverhampton family Gemma, Eduardo and nine-year-old Edward watched on as the Three Lions lost 2-1 to Spain in Berlin on Sunday.Due to his dad being from Seville, Spain, and his mum from Walsall, Edward had a combined Spain and England shirt made for him to show his support for both sides.But Gemma said it quickly became clear who the young football fan had actually been rooting for after the final whistle.“We were disappointed and my son, even though he’s put on that brave face of ‘I’m supporting both teams’, when the final whistle went he did stomp off to bed by himself,” Gemma said.“I think he’d really got it in his heart that he wanted England to win but he wouldn’t say because he was putting on a brave face.”FamilyEdward wanted to support both sides in the final so his mum combined his shirtsMeanwhile, Eduardo was “obviously happy” with the result and was getting messages from his family in Seville after the game, Gemma said.She added: “I said to him ‘you need to tell them it’s not time yet for me to hear those.
